She deserves a mother who...

I began working at an after school daycare program and met this little girl and fell in love with her in an instant. I spent all day with her and then met her dad when he came to pick her up. I fell in love with both of them within seconds. Her father, Tom, had soul custody of her due to her mothers drug problem. Tom had re-married and within 2 years, divorced. Destiny was always confused as to who was her mom. Well, last month Tom and I were married. Destiny has been calling me mom for over a year and we're all so happy to officially be a family. The photo on the right is just after I had read vows to Destiny during our wedding ceremony. I felt I owed it to her as well as her father to make some promises since she's had too many people break promises to her.

This photograph is from a festival where russian speakers get together to listen to old bard music and camp out at PA. It was interesting experience to bring the wdydwyd project to the festival as there was some resistance to answering this simple question, some of it has to do with old Soviet ideals and perceptions. However, I found it also accepted well after the results were posted. (full slideshow) The initial NO, came back to YES. Lesson learned—you can always try to open people's mind. Some answers were written in russian (translated above)
