There was a time when I worked in an industry of greed. A place where people strove to get more and more while overlooking friendships and people who were less fortunate. I started a whole new way of thinking when I began focusing on homeless people, sick people and people suffering under the terrible effects of substance abuse. I realized that I had no way of knowing how people got into the situations that they were in, but it wasn't my place to judge. There are those who get really hungry. Some get really troubled and have bad times. And some people get really sick. I work daily to try and give people who are in need a better standard of living. It takes so little to make someone smile and feel a little better.

At the time of this photo, I'm sure my response had everything to do with the precious little person with me in the photo. At least part of my answer may have also been prescient (the fool part, anyway) since I have found that I chose to do something with my life (music) that I love that also proved to be incompatible with everything else in my life that I love; namely, my family and, most especially, my daughter. I remain, however, as in love as ever and probably as much of a fool. It doesn't matter since love is all that matters. (www.davidlipten.com)

I lead a crew of 100 strong out on the Black Rock Desert Nevada, known as DPW Playa Restoration for Black Rock City's Burning Man, the largest practicing Leave No Trace Event in the world.
